2.6test9 problem

Hi!
I just compiled the 2.6test9 kernel. While compiling/installing modules I got a few unresolved symbols in severall modules(i.e. rivafb.o, sb16..). After(while) booting the new kernel i'm getting the following message: vfs: unable to mount fs on root.... I checked my kernel .config but everything seems to be in place.
Anybody?

"vfs: unable to mount fs on root."

The most likely cause for this problem is that the bootable kernel does not contain all of the modules necessary to access the / partition. i.e. All of the modules necessary to read /lib/modules must be made y (controller, hard drive, file system, etc.)
