2.6.11.11 and ACPI

hmm, encountered a "problem".
I got my 2.6.11.11 kernel working last night, with help from this forum.
Didn't have acpi support compiled in, but apm. (My laptop is not apm compliant but supports acpi.)
So...
I reinstalled slack10.0 this morning, to have a fresh install to start off with.
extracted 2.6.11.11 and made oldconfig with ACPI support.

after everything was done, I rebooted and it all looked ok.
ps aux showed : kacpid

then it happened:
pc stopped. no message, or anything. Just stopped.
Screen just like I left it, but no cursor blinking.
Hard reboot. (power-off and on)
Same thing, only much faster. (45 sec or so...)

Anyone got a clue, and want to share with me?

-Geir.

Is your laptop overheating? If the power control isn't working properly, it is possible that your fans aren't coming on when they should. Do you hear the fan running?

I haven't noticed if the fan turns on when I use the kernel with acpi support. Have to install again tonight, and test to see.
Didn't think linux with acpi took control over the fan when it was enabled. When using windows or the std. 2.4.26 kernel everything's ok. Same if I don't install with acpi support.

Thanks for the tip.
