1st time using Linux, rh8.0 reboots over and over
It's my first time installing Linux, since my computer has a hard time with CD-ROMs, I took my HD and installed it in another computer. I then installed Linux Red Hat 8.0 on my drive and when the installation ended, I placed back the HD in it's original computer.
When I try to boot my computer, a boot menu (GRUB) appears. If I do nothing or press ENTER, the computers reboots and the same screen appears over and over (The boot menu). here are the boot options (I think): root (hd0,0) kernel /vmlinuz-2.4.18-14 ro root=LABEL=/ initrd /initrd-2.4.18-14.img I only had a basic Linux class in school (RH7.2) and I can't figure out what to do, can anyone help me ? |
do you have a different cpu on the box that you are now trying to run the linux on? I read somewhere that a common reason for the spontaneous re-boot is because the wrong cpu is set in the kernel, and maybe if you installed it on another system w/ a fater cpu, it would set your redhat to use this cpu....
