I just bought a Raspberry Pi. Mostly out of curiosity. Have been a hobbiest since the days of CP/M. Never really looked at Linux or any other "__ix". Now that I am retired, I can and will. Suggestions on where to start with command line usage? Best small footprint GUI? Oh, yeah. Recommendations for USB wireless dongle for the Raspberry?
Lucky for you the Pi is an active group. Changes are being made to linux as a whole as a result.
Anyway, welcome to LQ.
I bought a book on bash a very very long time ago. Some may suggest that you use the man pages but that is the worst way to learn. Man pages are for people how already know the command.
There are a few shells too for you to choose from. Bash may be most popular but others exist and have quite a few caveats to watch out for.
