1st boot login problem

I did a Red Hat 9 Everything installation, but after entering my username and password, the text login is shown for a split second.
Then the graphical login is shown again and I login again. The username/password is accepted, but then it's back to text mode.
After logging in with the graphical interface 3 times, it goes to text login and stays there.
When I enter my username/password, the system just accepts it and displays the login prompt again. What did I do wrong? How can I fix it?

Thanks for any help,

Matt

I re-installed, and the problem is gone. Maybe having the same password for the user and root was causing the problem.
