122 pages later -=sound=-

and nothing. this most hardhest thing to install is this audigy problem im having. i cant get another linux distro right now as im stuck with the one i have........ modprobing the emu10k1 nothing comes up, insmod or whatever says module exists.. lsmod lists the modles... etc/modules.conf only thing i can think of that i might have wrong. Mixers sound is all the way up, speakers plugged in, winxp has sound so i know my card isnt working. dmesg lists some stuff i cant decipher... maybe an IRQ conflict? KDE IRQ's lists as an audigy on irq 10.. lsmod doesnt list an audigy at all.. im so lost

drivers are loaded, installed with no errors and STILL NO SOUND I used the search tonight and went through about 120 pages of SB stuff, all the way to the point where audigy wasnt supported then i stop looking.

trying not to be a pest just really anoying that I cant figure it out, any advice?

I don't know if this helps, but I went through the same thing with Venemous Squirrel a while ago. Apart from a couple of hiccups regarding his partitioning scheme (he ran out of space), we got it sorted. Now, he originally had RH8 but then changed to Mandy 9... but this should have no bearing on the outcome. Just thought I'd share it with you since we don't seem to be making much progress in this thread. Here we go:

LOL!! MY SOUND WORKS!! THis is somewhat funny

My computer overheated last night so I took the sides off of it and I had it leaning up against a stack of books and cds and stuff so I can unscrew the fan and take the heat sink off to clean the dust off of it. So while im leaving the syste off to let it cool my cat and me were playing he jumps up on the desk and hits the computer and it falls off the desk!!!!!!!! doesnt hit the ground hard, actually falls up against the wall anyway

Hard to explain but true, it basically fell off the desk and hit something and knock something loose, cause now the sound works AND now I can see the Sound Tools LOL talk about what we call "giving the computer a swift kick in the ass" if all else fails

Thanks guys for your help, specially Thymox!
