1 external mounts, one does not. what up?

I was pleasantly surprised when I plugged in one of my external drives, and it came up on my desktop with no manual mounting. I plug in a different one (the one I really want), and I get nothing. Can not see the drive anywhere. Open Partition Editor, and it can't see anything.

Both are NTFS, both work fine on my XP machine.

Any ideas what is going on, and what I can do to mount it?

Thanks for any help.

Try looking in dmesg and see if your drive is listed there.
Also, have you tried connecting them in different order, I have seen instances where one USB drive will
interfere/block Linux's ability to see another USB drive.
Don't ask me why, but I suspect it may be h/w specific.

Thanks for the reply.

I did as you suggested. Unfortunately I don't know what it is I am looking at/for. There is a large amount of information there, but I don't know how to interpret it.

Well damn, that was embarrassing. I did something too dumb to admit to.

Anyway, I am up and running with both drives

Thanks again for your time.
