[SuSE 8.1] Refresh rate problem --> do i have to install the drivers?

I've been happy to work with linux for a while now, but my eyes get very tired. I've put my refresh rate to 85 Hz, at a resolution of 1024 x 768. I know my monitor and geforce 4 card can handle that, because i didn't have the problem before in WinBlows.

When a bit outside of my screen i can see the screen flicker. Do i have to install the nvidia drivers to get the refresh rate to work properly ?

I run KDE 3.1 under SuSE 8.1

Thanks in advance
