Smile [solved] asus 1000hd pc with ubuntu lucid lynx wireless wont quit turning on and off

I don't want to take up too much time so I will say I installed Lucid Lynx on my netbook and was quite pleased, but my wireless would jump in and out alot. every few seconds after actually making a connection it would cut right back off. So after much review I decided to try Ndiswrapper. I installed it through synaptics and then deactivated my wireless and network manager in that order because I could not get a box in "configure network settings" to show up that I read should be there. I also found a link which I cant find now that told me to do gedit here.
sudo gedit /etc/network/interfaces in terminal. and then create a static ip the old way. I had tried to put the settings in the network manager but I had the same issue until I did the gedit.
The card is an Atheros AR 5001 wireless network adapter. Yea I don't have a question, but I thought maybe a solution would help someone

Thank you Bill for the welcome. I couldn't find anything on my netbook anywhere. And I couldn't figure out how to install the driver for the Atheros into Lucid, which would have been my next step. I have only been a noob for about a week now, but I have completely deleted Windows from my system as the reinstall would not read the support disc and failed to install a couple of drivers, I got tired of playing with Windows and figured if I was gonna do it, I would rather learn it on freeware than a restricted company whose left hand doesn't know what the right one is doing, but I digress.... next question coming
