[Slack 10.1] Help with ALSA pls.


hello, here's my problerm (sorry for my english ... )

I have slack 10.1 and i installed the last kernel 2.6.10.. so everything is ok, ,but when i run alsaconf it says "" NO supported PnP or PCI card found. Would you like to probe legacy ISA sound card/chip ? " and if i say yes it happens the same but with the ISA chips..
i dont now if maybe i forgot something on the kernel compilation or whatever, i dont know what modules i need maybe...
pls help me configuring this..

You will need snd_intel8x0 and snd_ac97_codex enabled as modules.
What I do is put a "*" for alsa support and then "m" for everything else.
Also enable the oss stuff under alsa and don't enable oss sound support.

There are major issued with AC97 sound with the 2.6 kerel. It's really hit and miss.

comprookie2000 fortunatelly alsaconf worked with those modules thx..
but now for multichannels support how i should do it? just saying the software to use alsa?
for example in xmms i can use the alsa output plugin, but for some softw. like amsn how should i do that?
any command to set?

If its working its a good idea to run as root
alsactl store
to store the mixer settings
