[Opensuse] Problem during installation
I followed the guide step by step, but I get an error after partitioning.
My hd is 240 Mb with windows xp installed; all space is for windows, there's no unassigned space. I followed the various step of installation until custom partitioning; I chose to reserved 90 Gb to Linux (included swap) and the rest to winXP. Everything's fine until now, the system ask which software to install and I left default settings. I clicked on "Install", the system start to compress the hd and immediately stops with an error during Compressing hard-disk, at the end of the message there's the following error: "Please try to free less space" Hope you can help, hope I posted in the correct section. Thanks a lot in advance |
Which version of Suse are you trying to install, it sounds like it can't handle partitioning that large of a disk. You may need to use a live cd to partition your hd and then install. Most of the late model "live cds" will have one or two good disk partitioners on them and don't need to be installed to do the job.

First of all, thanks for the reply Larry.
I'm trying to install Opensuse 10.2, following the guide retrievable at this url. I have a live cd of Slax and will try it, hope not to make any disaster :) I'll let you know if i could manage and will post further questions later. thanks |
I tried again several times to install opensuse but unsuccessfully; I even tried to partion my hd with Acronis Partition Expert, but even that could not do it.
Now I'm running Slax live cd, I opened a console and I'm going to use cfdisk command (if I'm not wrong), but what do you suggest? To create a new partition? |
resize the windows parition and make a new ext3 parition
