[gentoo:installation] unable to login with root

hi everyone,
there is a problem.
I downloaded Gentoo and burnt it on CD.
I did boot the livecd and the system passed starting stage and it recognised my hardware. After that, there is
livecd login prompt, and obviously I tried to use root and no password but it says login incorrect. This is what I did:
Code:

livecd login: root
Password: [hit enter here]
Login incorrect

Is there any standard password for livecd for Gentoo ? I tried something like 'root' 'gentoo' 'toor' but it does not help :D

Hmm any ideas here ?

If you are planning on toying with gentoo, you'd better get into the habit of reading the (excellent) provided doco.
I haven't touched gentoo in years, but the answer to this was quickly found in the (liveDVD) FAQ.

There is no password, so when you are asked for one, press Enter.
hmm... well.. I will look for something else then, because it seems similar to the first one above ;)

Note I said the (liveDVD) FAQ

What is the point of reading LiveDVD if you follow steps from the website that tells you what to do and what to download and all of a sudden, you have to set up the password manually ?
anyway.. I have not found the solution in the faq, rather, it was on another forum.

Solution:

It's auto-scrambeled. So, we have to add it as an option while booting the system

Code:

Quote:

boot: gentoo passwd=root
Thanks for your involvement syg00!!
