Unhappy @ localhost login screen, How do I go any further.

what do I put in for locahhost? I've tried a few things and when it asks for password I cannot even get anything to type as if no keyboard except enter?

The password characters are normally not shown when typing them in the virtual consoles, get used to it.

First of all, I'm not a comp newbie. Second I found that my ATI7200 was the problem. Up and running. Third the dist is red het linux 9. and last thanks for the help!

You really should consider a newer distro than Red Hat 9, as it reached its "end of life" some time ago and is thus no longer supported by Red Hat.
