*rubs head* Resolution issue, have 102x768, want 1280x1024

Hi there... I'm on Fedora 1.

I have a 19" Envision flat screen, crt.

My video card is crap, I know, S3 ProSavage8.

I am working fine, really, but my resolution is 1024x768 after my install, now.... on a 19" monitor that's like reading everything at twice normal size. Previously this was a WinXP machine, and resolution would go all the way to 1600x1200 or whatever insane size it was... I was content with 1280x1024 (was a bit small, but I liked lots of space).

This, 1024x768, is unbearable. According to my Resolution menu, that's as high as it'll go.

What can I do (short of buying a video card)?

Thanks!

Go into your hardware configuration in which I do not know the name for since you have Fedora and I have SuSE 9.0. But anyways I have the same problem, the way you fix it is you have to select the right monitor so Linux knows that monitor supports your high resolution. Then you have to select the resolutions you want it is a check list for me. Sorry I know I have given you not so great directions but I tried as best as I could, I just got SuSE 9.0 days ago.

looking and can't find that configuration...

If using KDE, go to display settings & change the monitor type to one that supports a suitable resolution/refresh rate. Then change your resolution.

/usr/bin/redhat-config-xfree86

will do it. You may have to use 16 bit.

Thanks RobertP!
