Ok i try try running 'xf86config' or 'xf86config4' as root
is there anything in /bin/X11 ? there *should* config files in there for xfree86. if all of those are missing, i'd try to re-installing xfree86
can you get into yast (as root) ? i think that can run without x (not yast2). if xf86config doesn't work, you can try re-installing xfree86 through yast. i'm not much of an expert, but i'm trying to think of things that won't require a reinstall.
the XFree86 config files are in /etc/X11, not /bin/X11
the X11 bin directory is /usr/X11R6/bin, unless this is a suse think, i which case i am an idiot
