Make sure you have the cdrom in your /etc/fstab file as a mount point, if not you will have to give the full mount command to mount it.
Like Tink said, make the empty directory if it isn't there, then do a:
mount /dev/cdrom /mnt/cdrom
If you have a fstab entry, check to see what directory it has to mount the cdrom to by default, etc.
