Question Zorin 11 will not connect to internet after update -- no IP address

Installed Zorin 11 from a USB. Worked fine and connected to the internet for the latest updates. After the latest updates installed, the machine needed to restart. When I restarted, the connection to the internet would not open. The cable connection is good (The lights on the connector -- RJ45 -- are on steady) The network window has network enabled but I do not have an IP address. What commands do I enter to get the network connection or diagnose why it is not there? "edit" of the connection just brings up a window with information that there is no IP address.

/etc/hosts:
127.0.0.1 localhost
127.0.1.1 jeff-lat-D520 comment =name of my computer

::1 ip6-localhost ip6-loopback
fe00::0 ip6-localnet
ff00::0 ip6-mcastprefix
ff02::1 ip6-allnodes
ff02::20 ip6-allrouters

etc/resolv.conf:

Could you post some info on your network hardware using the following command:

Code:
inxi -ni
Or try "lshw" without quotes. Might need sudo for these commands. Have you tried: sudo ifconfig eth0 up
