Xubuntu box and Slackware box: how do I make them communicate?

Hi, I am running slackware on my PC, with the router connected to it with a wire. I've setup its connection as DHCP. My dad's PC is running xubuntu connected to the router via a wireless connection. How do I make both machines communicate (to share files)?

http://www.spuddogg.com/how-to/how-t...ndows-network/ is what I use. Much simpler than NFS based on what I'm seeing on those links. It shouldn't matter much I would guess. I get full throughput of my lan with samba so I don't know the benefits / differences really other than samba takes much less to set up.
