ok, heres the deal. i installed samba directly when i installed rh9, but under system settings-server settings all there is is services. but none the less heres the deal. ok ive got a wireless/wired network here at my house. all but one computer, the linux computer, have xp on them. on the linux computer, when i go to network servers and click on my workgroup it can see and access all the computers on the network. when i get on my xp computer it cant see the linux computer. how do i get the xp computer to see the linux computer, so i can access files on the linux computer??
oh and walk me through this slow, because im a newb to linux. thanks for all the help
oh and ive tried to figure out this samba stuff, i dont get that. another thing-is when i try to open a terminal, something like mkdir/home/public, it says i dont have permission??? how do i fix that where if i needed to do something like that to get the xp computers to see the linux computer, i'd be able to??
