XP not connecting to Linux printer

I have a small home network. I am trying to set up network printing. The printer is usb on a Debian box. I can print local but no network from the win xp box. I can browse shared files on the Deb box from the xp box. KDE, Samba, and CUPS are on the Deb box...I am sure that configuration is my problem. Any guidance?

TIA

Additional info

I added a third box; another Debian. Again, that box, like the xp, can access shared files, but not the printer. Can anyone help me with how to share the printer??

TIA

Roger

I take it you did enter the print sharing lines into the smb.conf file?

http://www.gentoo.org/doc/en/printing-howto.xml

Samba printing can be a pain to setup(sometimes)

IPP is faster, easier to setup and generally more reliable

just start down at the 'configuration' part if you alredy have the printer installed on the debian system.

XP supports IPP printing natively, so you dont have to have any wierd drivers.

or you can set up the printer as a raw (HP JetDirect like) port printer, thats the problem-free way i have installed printers onto windows and other os's..

I just figured out how to do it, and i notice that windows reacts quite faster with the printer setup as a ip raw port printer than over smb and cups.
