XMMS and playing files on the network

Running SuSe 9.1, samba installed and running, able to browse contents of WIN2K PC (in Konqueror), and open almost every file...except for mp3s. When I click an mp3 Konqueror asks me if I want to open it in XMMS. Answering "yes" leads to XMMS being loaded, I see the mp3 in the playlist, but spectacularly, nothing else happens. Clicking play doesn't do anything either.
I thought maybe I just couldn't open files on the winbox, but everyting else opens just fine in OpenOffice, Kuickshow, anything. Maybe I need an extra plugin or something?

you need to mount the folder your mp3's are in. unless i'm wrong xmms needs the file locally, so mounting the folder/directory would be the way to get going.
good luck.
