Hi,

I have Red Hat 9 Linux. My X server was working properly. I changed the keyboard and rebooted and when i run startx or XFree86 i get the following error log:

Any comments

it looks like your machine is looking for a module called "pcidata" and it cannot be found (obviously) so maybe you can try find the module and try to find out if it is in the right path?

maybe if you post your /etc/X11/XF86Config i could be a little more helpfull to you.

I've had this error, too. I don't know the answer, but I'd like to have it.

To get rid of the problem, I simply ran xf86cfg, which started X with as much autodetection as possible, and then let me reconfigure everything. So in short, I created a new XF86Config file.

I found one problem. I tried the following command to find out if my PC had the required modules:

# ls /usr/X11R6/lib/modules

It gave the following output:

ls:/usr/X11R6/lib/modules : Input/Output error

So, i guess there is some problem with the modules folder and that is why X-server is not able to find the modules.

Any suggestions ???
