X forwarding works with X.Org not with XMing. Help?

I've got a wierd problem here. I'm running Debian 6.0.4 on a sparc system and I'm having issues with running remote programs on it. If I ssh into it with "ssh -X user@debianmachine" on a linux system running standard X.Org then remote X applications work fine. If, on the other hand, I connect to the box using PuTTY (With the X forwarding option checked) on my Windows machine which is running XMing 7.5.0.40 then I get errors like this whenever I try and run a remote X application:

Code:
user@wopr:~$ xterm
X Error of failed request: BadIDChoice (invalid resource ID chosen for this con nection)
Major opcode of failed request: 55 (X_CreateGC)
Resource id in failed request: 0x5c800000
Serial number of failed request: 3
Current serial number in output stream: 4
user@wopr:~$ gvim
The program 'gvim' received an X Window System error.
This probably reflects a bug in the program.
The error was 'BadIDChoice (invalid resource ID chosen for this connection)'.
  (Details: serial 3 error_code 14 request_code 55 minor_code 0)
  (Note to programmers: normally, X errors are reported asynchronously;
that is, you will receive the error a while after causing it.
To debug your program, run it with the --sync command line
option to change this behavior. You can then get a meaningful
backtrace from your debugger if you break on the gdk_x_error() function.)
Does anyone know what might be causing this? I've not had any problems like this with XMing (or X.Org) before

there are too many differences: not only the X server changed. At first I think using putty from windows you are simply not allowed to access XMing. Try to disable access control (xhost +) to test if it helps.

Access control is already disabled. And it's definitely a problem with the computer I'm connecting to via SSH as I can use the exact same setup to SSH into my university's network and run remote X apps from there with no problems. (Using PuTTY and XMing on windows that is).

Do you use the Xming-portablePuTTY?

Still the same. The only thing that's different is the PuTTY client and I don't think that's the issue as it seems to be a problem with X. My (wild stab in the dark) guess is that the libraries on the remote machine are incompatible with XMing somehow..

I do not know why, but there is a link utility between them. I think it is required to work, but I'm not really sure.
