WUSB11 V2.6 and Linux 9.0. Got it working!
Hello All,
I am new in this forum and was glad to find it. I just spent a couple of days installing Linux Red Hat 9.0 and WinXP in the same Dell Precision 210 (P3). It was quite a task but I was able to install both in the PC but different HD. I have a 20GB and a 180GB running. I installed Linux RH 9.0 on the 20GB, after much troubleshooting and conflict with XP.
first, I did a search on this forum to find how to connect my wireless linksys connection and was very dissapointed that on Linux there was some work to do.
I found on this forum, the following instructions:
"atmelwlandriver.sourceforge.net/howto/howto.html"
which I follow step by step and was able to connect the wireless connection. One weird thing that I found was that I had left a 3COM Ethernet Card active on the setup menu when I loaded Linux. When I went to Settings--> Network, I was surprised the Linux has marked this card as type "wireless". Just to test I turned it off on the Bios setup and Linux was not able to connect me back to the internet. When I connected it back and had it as eth0 and no other hardware only this one, then Linux enabled the internet connection back. Weird! I do not know how it is working like this. I just started in Linux but had some limited experience with Solaris.
Thanks for posting all these comments about this subject. It has really helped me in doing this. Thanks.
