Would like to network book KDE
Hello,
I would like to be able to insert a floppy/cdrom into a computer on my lan, and use it to initiate boot up to my server with GUI (KDE) using the machine as a thin client. I tried PXE but apperntly my BIOS/nic doesn't support it. Is this even possible? I don't want to have to install lnux on the machine, it's just for when my Linux buddy comes over to my home and to have things at a little higher standard than simple ssh (which by itself is quite powerful) I'm currently running FC2 on my server. Thank you. |
You can do it with rom-o-matic:
http://rom-o-matic.net/ To handle the rest of the capabilites required you probbaly want to look into ltsp: http://www.ltsp.org There are some good howtos there that will take you through the process. Another alternative to a network boot would be a live CD like Knoppix. |
