WindowsXP not able to print off Linux Samba machine.

Here's the problem, I can't get Windows XP computers to print off of my printer correctly. My computer is dual-booted with Linux and Windows XP and uses has a HP Deskjet 870Cse. When I'm on Windows XP (on my computer), all of the computers (network) can print off of mine correctly. When I'm on Linux, the windows 98 machine can print off of it correctly. Yet, the two windows XP machines cannot.

I've been playing around and found that on the Windows XP machine, when I select a completely random driver, one that's not HP or belonging to the HP Deskject 870 series, it seems to be able to print, however, it prints spooling information as well on the paper.

My computer is using Cups 1.1.20, and Samba on my computer is version 3.0.4
I setted the printer up on samba to print to my /var/log/cups with 777 permission. I'm using a SHARE user access on Samba, allowing guest accounts.

If anyone knows what the problem is, I'd be very grateful if you could share your knowledge. I'm not sure if I need to download CUPS for windows or anything, but if I do, please let me know.

**Edit: /var/spool/cups, not log

Thanks for the link, but I'm trying to use a samba server to host the printer. That way, it'll be the same link when I'm on Windows and just the same on Linux.

thank you for the reply Vectordrake, the samba instructions in them are quite good. However, it seems to require some downloading of extra programs and that would mean the drivers would be different when I switch to Windows. Also, I have a 56k connection to the internet. I decided to install the printer to a different computer and just try to share off of it for convineance. Thank you for the links vectordrake. I don't think there's a point for this thread anymore.
