I am getting an error message when I try to connect the two computer I have connected together on a peer to peer network, when I try to login to mandriva 2006, from windows xp I get the message "you may not have permissions necessary to loign to Mdkgroup, contact your administrator"m my network is a home network how could I resolve this?
You'll need to explain more precisely just what it is you are trying to do. How are you trying to login? Are you trying to use Samba as a domain controller?
I am using whatever the default windows xp login is, I am trying to setup a simple peer to peer home networking, from the windows xp computer I am able to ping the computer with mandriva 2006, I not tried pinging windows xp from the mandriva computer
I don't see why you are trying to login to a different workgroup. Use the default workgroup 'workgroup' on both machines, and with Samba running on the Linux box, just browse its shares normally. You don't need to login to any workgroup.
I can access mshome when I plug my speedstream 5100 router directly into the windows xp computer, but I wan to be able to use my mandriva box as the router, amd have the speedstream 5100 plugged into the mandriva box, I am using a peer to peer conection between the computers.
