I have Windows XP in VMware Server. I set a static ip address in Windows XP in VMware Server, and now it can't connect to the internet. Pinging the router works, but pinging www.google.com does not. I got the ip information from looking at the status while using dhcp, so I used the same ip information that was being used when I had dhcp. I have smbfs installed. I was not able to mount a windows shared folder from Linux. Whenever I set change static back to dhcp, the internet works again, but I really need to keep the same ip address each time. Thanks.

It sounds like you didn't put in DNS entries when you statically assigned the IP on the Windows VM.

What was the command to get the DNS information? I believe it was something similar to "nslookup myinternetserviceprovider.com", but not exactly the same as that.
