windows xp cannot connect to linux server on start up

Hi

One of my client have been having a strange problem with its network. Windows XP pcs on its network cannot connect to the network on start up, ping also fail. They need to flush dns or repair network to get connection to the network server.

Any one have a idea on what is causing this problem?

i know for at least pureftpd there is a broken client option which boots the ftp server with settings that will allow a windows machine to reliably connect to the server. try something along those lines. i don't know a lot about servers, sorry.

No. Being a bit more specific might help.

How should they be able to connect? Dhcp? What's the version of dhcpd? Of the dhcp client? What's the server running (distro, version, any potentially conflicting software)?

read http://www.catb.org/~esr/faqs/smart-questions.html

I suggest you go to User CP -> Edit profile -> distro and put in your distro(s).
