Windows ICS and Debian Linux

I have a server running Windows XP( My other machine is a laptop with debian Woody installed (

A month ago I typed:
#ifconfig eth0 netmask
#route add default gw
in debian console for using internet through Windows ICS and everything worked fine, but yesterday, although I reinstalled debian in the laptop choosing *the same* options as before, I haven't internet connection through Windows ICS and that commands are useless for configuring it properly.
Can anybody help me? don't know what to do .

Thanks in advance.
