windows connecting to proftpd

I have a problem.. i have a number of web servers online and they are running slackware 10. the problem is people with windows computers have problems connecting to the ftp accounts i have set up for them (since i host web sites) so i had to install windows on some of them so that the windows users could connect. unfortunately i hate windows and the servers all have some virus or another. so I'm going to install slack 10 back on there.. the only issue is the ftp.. does anyone know how i can fix this?

PS: the ftp configuration that I'm using is each ftp user has their own home folder where I'm serving their web sites from and the ftp login is the same as their telnet or ssh login..

any help on this matter would be greatly appreciated
thanks

one question - have you allowed active ftp connections too? proftpd defaults to passive mode. Windows command line ftp clients do not understand passive ftp.
