Hi everyone!
I just cant seem to figure this one out. Here goes:
I'm running SAMBA 2.2.3a as a PDC. All clients are Win2K. I can join the machines to the domain, and logon with no problems. Everything seems to work fine. Except when assigning users to a share or resource on one of the clients. Also when trying to add a user to be an administrator of the local machine.
If I try to share a local folder on my 2K client, in my share permissions I can only assign just my domain user account. If I try to assign any other user account from the domain I get the error:
"Unable to lookup usernames for display"
I get the list of users, but I just cant seem to add any of them, except for mine.
Configuration:
(smb.conf) - pertinent info
security = domain
domain logons = yes
domain master = yes
domain admin group = mark john user
admin group = mark john user
(File permissions)
smbpasswd -rw- --- ---
smbusers -rw- r-- r--
When joining the machine the domain admin group gets added automatically. However if I remove the account and try to re-add it, I will get an error:
"a member could not be added or removed from the local group because the member does not exists"
This will also happen when trying to add anyone else but mine!
Any help would be greatly appreciated
Thanks in advance!
