win2000 boxes cannot map but winnt boxes can - same user!

I'm running suse 6.3, not sure of the version of Samba. This box was on a private network and either OS had no issues mapping to it. We dual-NICed the box and now only winnt boxes can map to it, the win2000 boxes receive a 'the semaphore timeout perios had expired'.
Could this be a samba version issue even though ti worked before? any other ideas? I am VERY new at Linux so painful beginner details would be greatly appreciated! thank you!
