Just installed RH7.1 on my PC. (Cyrix PR333, 112meg ram-best I could do on my budget of nil) The modem is in the Win98SE box my wife uses - long term I have a 486 I will set up as a router, but until then I thought I'd use Win98 Internet Connection Sharing. (yeah, I know - but it's only temporary)
Problem is I can't get DNS working right. Windows box works fine. I can ping both ways. Surfing by entering a numerical address on the Linux box works fine, but it won't resolve a name (other than it's own) I read through several of the previous threads, but it's not helping. I suspect the problem is with my Windows settings because the Linux instructions were pretty explicit, but don't know how to prove that. Can someone point me in the right direction?

PS It's set up static IP, no hub - just a xover cable between the two PC's

Ok - it was Windows! I solved the problem using the "close your eyes and change settings at random with no idea what you are doing" technique - and it worked....stick out tongue Better quit while I'm ahead....
