Win 95/98 and XP with Samba

Hi, I've got a Samba box and have just made the following modification to the smb.conf file:

encrypt passwords = yes

This now allows the XP boxes to logon ok and pickup drive mappings etc. Although this has now stopped the Windows 95 and 98 boxes from logging on. Do I have to make a registry change on each 95/98 box to tell the system to use encrypted passwords at logon?

I believe this may have been covered in one of the MS Knowledgebase articles.

It's ok, the registry change that needs to be made is:

then if not already there add a DWORD value called:

The value should be one for either 0 for Password Encryption, or 1 for Plain Text Passwords.

Then Reboot the workstation. I also found changing the users password via SMBPASSWD helped to get some of them logged on.
