wifi printer, wired internet debian jessie setup

I have a wired internet connection and a local wifi printer. I am running debian jessie on my desktop machine (which has both wired & wifi interfaces).

I need them both simultaneously. The wired connection is configured in /etc/networks/interfaces; the wireless connection is handled by networkmanager. If I enable the wireless (to try to reach the printer) I lose internet.

Can someone help. Seems this would be a relatively common situation in this day of wireless printers but I can't find anything that helps.

Thanks for your time.

Here is the real problem.

LAN = <IP> + <Gateway> +<DNS>
WLAN = <IP> + ????? + ?????

So when you connect to your wireless network using network manager, it wipes out your routes and or settings, this is why you cant get out to the internet.
