wifi does not connect. stops at 'setting network address'

I had installed kubuntu 15.04 on my pc with D-Link DWA-121 Wireless N 150 PICO USB Adapter. It could detect all wireless networks. When i tried connecting wifi with wpa2/wpa AES, it stops at setting network address and after sometime it fails. I uninstalled kubuntu and installed manjaro with kde 5.4. This time i had placed my pc near the router and it connected flawlessly. I kept it there for about 2 days and then shifted to old position which is about 12m away from router and it started showing the same problem as kubuntu. My other linux distros (ubuntu 14.04 and elementary os freya) as well as windows and android devices work well. The problem seems to lie somewhere with kde. Would be very grateful if someone can help.
