Wicd/network daemon connection problem

I don't know if this is due to a different version of Wicd that I downloaded after I reinstalled arch or not, but it's a very strange problem. If I have both wicd and network in my daemons line and etho enabled, Wicd can connect to the wired internet at boot. However, if I disconnect the wired internet, I cannot connect to it again. The bar would just keep saying that it's connecting to the wired internet, but it never connects. Now, if I remove the network daemon and disable etho, I cannot even connect to wire at boot. Wicd will just keep trying to connect and nothing happens. I have tried uninstalling Wicd and deleting the /usr/lib/wicd files and then reinstalling Wicd, but the problem is still there.

Note: I use arch linux with xfce4.
