Why so many smbd processes running
I figured that this was a separate topic than my earlier posts so I thought I should start a new thread, sorry if I was mistaken
Well I am well on my way to having the basic Samba server install up and running on my corporate network, I say basic because I intend on doing a lot more with in the near future, but first we must take baby steps.
Now the question and I am sorry if it has an obvious answer, but I could not find anything during my searches.
After I restart Samba I have one smbd and one nmbd process running, after a short time of use, I have multiple smbd processes running and they are all children of the original parent smbd process. I do understand, pretty much anyway, the parent child relationship in terms of processes, but the spawned child processes never seem to die. I am just concerned about long-term usage of the server and how many child processes will end up running and their effect on memory usage and overall efficiency
Thanks for any explanation
