Why not able to ping

Hi ALL,

I have a Linux box with two NIC. One (eth1) connnects to Internet and another one (eth0) connects to my loclal LAN. I have configured SNAT for SMTP and POP3 acces and squid to share Internet. All my clients are able to access Internet and emails. The problem is -

While at the Linux box I am able to ping any Internet address but not able to ping my local Lan.

Any idea ????????

Regards,
ajay

So the clients on your local LAN (not the linux box itself) are able to connect to the internet via the linux box, yet the linux box cannot ping the clients. Am I getting it right?

In this case it would be most likely that your clients are running some sort of firewall, and the firewall rules say not to respond to ICMP.
