Why is "only user" for Samba now deprecated?

Does anyone know why the "only user" option for samba in smb.conf is deprecated? I am informed of this fact by looking at /var/log/samba/log.smbd where it is stated
Code:

WARNING: The "only user" option is deprecated
If you do know about this, is there a route I can take to gain the same type of functionality offered with that option? Has it simply been renamed for Samba3? This is something I need for Samba to adequately fulfill my needs...

I know I can still use it even though its deprecated, but often that means that when something is deprecated it will not continue to be supported for much longer, and I don't want to just be dropped in the cold if/when the Samba team does eventually drop "only user" for good...
