Angry Why I can't ping using knoppix


I am a network novice. I've been trying to configure a knoppix 3.4 network with no success.I have 2 machines both with knoppix, when I ping after rebooting, I get the error message"network unreachable". Could someone help

I assume that you are booting from the cd. I have tried using Knoppix a few times and have yet to be able to ping anything. For me it doesn't seem to pickup the existing network settings. Not really sure though.
