who actually uses interface name mapping - and why


Who actually uses interface name mapping? Why, and what advantages do you get out of it?

You get different settings for different situations using the same interface.
So if you have a laptop with one ethernet port, when you are at home you can ifup home and at work you can ifup work and the settings are already defined.
