Which OS for WAP/firewall?

I'm wanting to turn a desktop into a WAP/firewall, serving wireless access to two laptops. Right now I have FreeBSD 4.10 installed on it but am unsure whether I should use that or install a Linux distro like Slackware or something.
I haven't done any kind of network configuration or anything at this point. From what I understand, I can just add a wireless NIC to the desktop and it can serve out to a wireless network pretty efficiently while receiving DSL from a "hardwire" NIC --> DSL modem.

Thanks for any advice!

You need to run the WiFi card in "Host AP" mode, so it's not exactly plug 'n' play... you need to do some additional configuration. As for the firewall bit, I personally find the syntax of PF in OpenBSD to be the easiest firewall I've ever used (commercial or otherwise). It has all the possible features you could want, and many overkill features that you'll never touch on a simple network. The man pages for wireless drivers on OpenBSD are very nice and tell you how to setup your card in Host AP mode.

That's my personal preference, but obviously a lot of people have done this with Linux, too so it's not like it's only possible with a certain OS. In fact, FreeBSD should work too.
