Where do ip settings get stored?

Hi everyone. I am using a proprietary build of linux. I believe that it is based upon Enterprise SUSE.

Anyway. I need to know where the IP address settings such as IP address, netmask, and/or DHCP settings are stored?

I looked at openSUSE 11.2 and I see the settings are stored in /etc/sysconfig/network/ifcfg-eth0, but when I look at my proprietary build of linux I cannot find the file ifcfg-ethx anywhere?

Is there an alternate method to store network settings?

Thanks

Hey there!

I'm using Arch Linux, my networking stuff is stored in /etc/rc.conf...maybe it's the same for you??

Luck

Hmm. I looked for rc.conf and couldn't find it anywhere.

It is possible that the IP settings just exist in memory and are not actually written to a file?

when I reboot my system, the network settings are not kept.
