My question is quite simple and it is related with the configuration
of an IMAP server in a Fedora Core 1 Linux distribution.
I have installed in my laptop the last base distribution packages
of the IMAP server of Fedora. Basically #yum install imap.
My problem is that I can not find any configuration file to
"configure" the IMAP server. does this file exist?
Why do I want to configure IMAP server?
Because by default the folders created by a remote e-mail client
connecting with my server by IMAP appear as a file in the HOME
directory of each user. I really do not like this point and I want to
change the directory used by each user to store the IMAP folders...
thanks a lot for the help!!!
Additional comment:
As far as the IMAP server has defines the ~/ directory as the IMAP
base directory for each user, kmail give me as remote folder all the
folders present in that directory (mail or not).... this is also quite
extrange.
I run IMAPD on my internal network so that I check my mail from anywhere in the building.
My Inbox is my normal system mail directory: /var/spool/mail/myusername.
Any other folders can go where I want them - I just set this up in my mail client.
Originally, all the folders went into my home directory - yuck! So, I created a new folder (admittedly still in my home directory) and moved all the others into it. Then I made the change of location in my mail client and it all worked fine.
In Mozilla, go to the mail account properties, select Server Settings then Advanced - you will see that you can define the directory that you want to use, provided that you have permissions to that directory.
I'd guess that you would have a similar situation with other mail clients.
Now I understand that folders are not configured in the server but in the client.
I mean... in the client side, you can select the folders you want to use. Additionaly you can select in the mail client to show only the subcribed folders, and then you avoid to see all the folders.
