What is snoop on red hat
Hi All,
Is there a tool like solaris's snoop that comes automatically installed on Red Hat? I can't find snoop or tcpdump on the systems. Do I have to install a seperate package myself? Regards, Sho |
tcpdump is always installed by default.

not on these boxes
I would think tcpdump would be installed by default however on thes 5 Red Hat Enterprise Linux 4 I do not have tcpdump. I have done a find starting at root and I've looked personally where it should be. Can I find this package on the install cd and install it from cd?
Thanks, Sho |
it will be installed: /usr/sbin/tcpdump

It's not
I appreciate your adamancy that it would be installed by default, that is what I thought. However, I guarantee you it is not on any of these systems. The find command would have found and didn't, whereis could have returned it but didn't and an ls is both /usr/bin and /usr/sbin show it in neither. In /usr/sbin I go right from sys-unconfig to tcpd to testsaslauthd. I can get my hands on the install cd's if anyone knows where the package would be located on the cd. Does anyone know where the package is located? Downloading from an opensource area on the net is not an option for security policy reasons.
Thank you for any assistance. Sho |
yum info tcpdump
or yum install tcpdump |
