What is protocol suite?

While studying about basic networking i came across the word TCP/IP protocol suite. I want to know what is protocol suite and is there another type of protocol suite available? While searching for the same results are found for "TCP/IP protocol suite" not for "Protocol suite".

Internet protocol suite is the computer networking model and communications protocols used by the Internet and similar computer networks. It is commonly known as TCP/IP, because its most important protocols, the Transmission Control Protocol (TCP) and the Internet Protocol (IP), were the first networking protocols defined in this standard. It is occasionally known as the DoD model, because the development of the networking model was funded by DARPA, an agency of the United States Department of Defense.

first of all 'what is protocol suite'
tcp/ip is called a 'protocol suite' because as mentioned, it is more than one protocol but actually several protocols transparently working in unison

second 'is there another type of protocol suite available?'
yes and no, one other such 'protocol suite' did exist (and still does) but isn't useful anymore
that was ipx/spx, but that was really only used for communicating with NOVELL networks, although dosbox can use IPX tunneled over tcp/ip for network games, it's pretty much the only reason to use it any more.
