what is different with Ftp From browser and Ftp from command line
 
hi
i have a rule in snort that when i enter to a special FTP , snort alert me.
when i do it from command line snort alert me but when i enter same FTP from Mozilla ,Snort don't alert me.....
why???
do their mechanism is different???:confused: :confused:
can u help me?

The only difference is that browsers use passive mode ftp by default, while in the command-line ftp you must specify it by giving the command "pass(ive)". This way you initialize the connection for data transfer and your firewall does not complains.

i have problem with ftp in browser not in command-line
command-line works true and alert me . i want if i enter ftp in browser this alert me too but in browser don't alert me .
i want to know why????
