What distro is better for running snort?

Or does it matter? I am conserned with ease of setup, configuration, and efficient running of snort on the OS. Thanks for your responses!

Anything that's not going to load a bunch of other daemons by default. Basically you want something light, fast, and secure by default. That's OpenBSD to the tee, but since this is a Linux forum... I've heard good things about Gentoo (compile only the stuff you want). Chances are Slackware would also be a good choice.

Basically you want something that will put very minimal load on your CPU and RAM by default, since Snort is hungry.

Please do not post the same thread in more than one forum. Picking the most relevant forum and posting it once there makes it easier for other members to help you and keeps the discussion all in one place.
